On Monday evening, Indianapolis City and County Council voted to end Marion County’s mask mandate for those fully vaccinated, or those who have scored two weeks since their last COVID-19 inoculation.

Masks may no longer be needed in Marion County, but that doesn’t mean Hoosiers or visitors to Indianapolis can yet completely eradicate face coverings from their daily lives.

Marion County was one of the last counties in the state to consider reversing its rule after Gov. Eric Holcomb ended the state’s ordinance in April and left local governments to take care of it. to decide whether to keep or abandon their mask mandates.

While public places and large retailers choose to use the honor system when it comes to wearing masks, there are some settings that will still require face coverings.

Briggs:The Conservatives may be right about the mask’s mandate

Here’s what to know about the end of Indianapolis mask tenure and where you still need to be aware of COVID-19 restrictions.

Top Boys’ Lacrosse Wins Section Title, But Want More, Much More https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/top-boys-lacrosse-wins-section-title-but-want-more-much-more/ https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/top-boys-lacrosse-wins-section-title-but-want-more-much-more/#respond Tue, 08 Jun 2021 01:21:36 +0000 https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/top-boys-lacrosse-wins-section-title-but-want-more-much-more/

Sectional championships are commonplace only for the most elite sports programs in New Jersey high schools.

The Summit boys’ lacrosse team certainly qualifies as one of those legendary programs.

For the vast majority of programs, a section title is the ultimate goal in every season. That’s what teams play for. For Summit, this is just one step towards his ultimate goal: winning the Tournament of Champions.

So after NJ.com’s Top 20 No.2 Summit beat West Morris, 12-6, in the final round of the North Jersey Group 2 tournament, there was no big celebration. . There were no piles of dogs or throwing sticks in the air. Just a few hugs and smiles and it was the next step.

“It’s always good,” said senior Luke DiNola. “It’s almost like it’s another checkpoint. We’ve made it this far, but that’s not what we’re looking to do. You can never take a team lightly. We went out and we won, so we have to prepare for the next game.

“Every time you bring stuff home it feels good,” said Michael Bonomo. “At the end of the day, our minds are set on this Tournament of Champions. We have to win the next game to get there. It was hot there so it was hard to keep going all the time, but we are a very resilient group. We know how to fight adversity.

The Hiltoppers took a 5-0 lead over West Morris and were able to put things on cruise control for the remainder of the game in the scorching heat. West Morris managed to stabilize the game and play Summit fairly evenly after dropping five goals, but it was too little and too late by then.

DiNola opened the scoring for Summit with back-to-back goals on undisputed practice and a nice spinning movement behind the net. Dylan Sebastian gave Summit a 3-0 lead with 5:03 left in the first quarter thanks to a good flat from Conor St. Amant. Two goals from behind-the-net moves from Sebastian and John Murray were the last two goals of the series 5-0.

“It was a hot day so I think both teams played hard despite the heat,” said Summit head coach Jim Davidson. “We wanted to go out to see if we could score a few goals early and we did. West Morris fought to the end, but we were able to settle in offensively and then control the game throughout the second half.

The closest to the Wolfpack was when James Panico went down 6-3 when he pulled the ball out of a draw and put it in the back of the net with 5:35 left in the second quarter. Summit then had four different goal scorers – Murray, Hunter Schluter, Bonomo and Sebastian – scored the game’s next four goals to put things out of West Morris’s reach.

Summit is looking to become the first team in program history to complete an unbeaten season since the 2010 Hiltoppers recorded a 23-0 record.

Even though the section title is not the end goal, Summit was thrilled to raise a trophy last year for seniors who didn’t have the chance and for the community at large.

“It’s basically like playing for both levels because all of these kids would give an arm and a leg to play again,” said DiNola. “The seniors from last year are there and support us. They text us before the games and make sure we win for them too.

“We don’t just play for ourselves; we are playing for the city, ”Bonomo said. “This program means a lot to a lot of different people. This has supported us a lot throughout our career. We have great alumni who support us tremendously. We play for them as much as we play for us. We are really proud to be Hiltoppers.

Experts consider renaming Cleveland – Ohio News Time https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/experts-consider-renaming-cleveland-ohio-news-time/ https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/experts-consider-renaming-cleveland-ohio-news-time/#respond Mon, 07 Jun 2021 21:07:14 +0000 https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/experts-consider-renaming-cleveland-ohio-news-time/

Cleveland, Ohio – Last week, the Cleveland Indians briefed fans on the search phase to determine a new team name.

However, those who have watched the saga closely since the first suggestion for a change in July could be very realistic that the new name will not be announced until it is announced. I wonder why the process took almost a year. Time 2022.

Without a doubt, the change is coming. Baseball vice president Chris Antonetti asked MLB Network Radio a lot in December about whether an organization can be part of a positive change for social justice and equality in the community. He said he spent time.

“After hearing from leaders from different disciplines, I thought it made sense to push the new name forward so that we could better integrate our fan base and connect people for common interests. This is the best time for sport, ”said Antonetti.

It all makes sense, but it’s ridiculous to expect club owner Paul Dolan and team leaders to ring the finger and come up with a new name overnight. On the other hand, the brand-wide transformation plot remains a bit of a mystery to the average fan.

Charles Campisi, head of sports marketing and management at Baldwin Wallace University, said one of the reasons the process is slow is that this is a great company that covers all aspects of the existence of the franchise. Mentionned.

It’s also a delicate transition that the club only want to make once, which means doing it right, while also giving fans something new and fresh that can be shown to them as a source of unity and of pride.

“From a marketing perspective, it’s not just about changing the name and logo,” says Campisi. “It’s how to replace a brand with a 105-year history and get fans to buy it at the same time.”

Cleveland.com gives experts at Campisi and Case Western Reserve and Ohio State University some insight into the idea of renaming Indians and why the process is so difficult and how long it takes to get it right. I asked.

What is the cost of rebranding?

One of the biggest hurdles is the economics of rebranding after the team promised to change their name.

“It’s not just about changing the name of the jersey,” Campisi said. “Everything is inside and outside the stadium.

When Seattle changed the stadium name from Safeco Field to T-Mobile Park ahead of the 2019 season, the Mariners had three months between signing the deal and the opening date. I patrolled the park and found all the places labeled “Safeco Field”. Kampisi said Indians must do the same.

“If you’ve been to the park, there are a lot of places that you won’t see anymore, because you’ve seen them many times,” Kampisi said. “There will be a lot of ‘Indian’ characters all over the park. If you want to get it right, take some time this season.

From a practical standpoint, the entire 2021 season has been blessed by local and national Native American groups, allowing Indians to sell jerseys, hats, T-shirts and other items that have already been ordered. I was able to maintain the contract with.

“If they change it now, we have to imagine that the MLB or the Indians will have to eat all that money,” Campisi said.

Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management Jonathan Ernest says the economics associated with renaming this scope is relatively unprecedented.

“A lot of those costs relate to the fact that the brand was built,” Ernest said. “It’s more difficult because of the attractiveness of the local market, especially when considering a change, especially in baseball.

According to Ernest, there are few instances where a non-new team has been renamed or an existing team has moved to a new city.

“It’s hard to separate the impact of having a new fan base in a new stadium from the impact of just a name change,” said Ernest.

The closest example might come from a minor league baseball team that tends to change its name and brand more often, as was the case with Akron’s Double-A team, which went from ‘Eros at Rubberducks in 2013. There are.

“Investigations in minor league baseball and other overseas sports show that when a team changes its name, it’s important to have local appeal and connections, or associated local identities. It has been done, ”said Ernest.

Baseball, more than football, is about regional attractions rather than a national fan base.

“In Washington’s case, they’re trying to find a name that works well across the country, and they might not want to pick one in particular like ‘Potomac’ that others don’t understand,” Ernest said. Has been.

Is that an argument to tie the name to a hole in the rock or something regional? What a lot of people don’t want to see is another guitar themed logo.

“It makes a lot of sense, especially in baseball, to have a somewhat identifiable name in the area, but given the size of the local market,” said Ernest. Mentionned. that’s all”

According to Ernest, minor league teams that switch to regionally-themed games have fewer losses, higher sales, and more spectators than switching to some sort of bland country name. Studies have shown that it does.

“It’s a pretty solid discussion to understand the cost of changes and make them work properly,” said Ernest.

“You also face the same issues, such as trademarks and who is crouching on which website. To make sure that you have full rights to the appropriate means of renaming yourself. In addition, it takes time to complete all these transactions.

What about the idea of just renaming to sell t-shirts and caps and make money?

Jesse Walker, assistant professor of marketing at Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University, said 105 years later, the Cleveland Indians brand is so valuable that changing direction isn’t an easy choice. say.

“There is no profitable natural reason to make this change,” Walker said. “In their minds, the only reason to do it is to do the right thing.”

Indians may see this decision as worth the cost in the long run, but it will be costly in the short run. Additionally, product sales may not be a deciding factor.

“There’s no way they can do that to sell more merchandise,” Walker said. “The segment that opposes the evolution of the fan base is, in most cases, its social implications. I will buy the goods. “

And don’t expect huge cash flow from the Indian business side after the new name is born, Kampisi said. Most of the profits from the sale of Major League Baseball are shared by the 30 teams. Can be placed in a large pot.

In MLB, 48% of local revenue is subject to revenue sharing and is distributed evenly among the 30 teams, with each team receiving 3.3% of the total revenue. In 2018, each team received $ 118 million from this shared prize pool.

Why not give it a working name like the Cleveland Baseball Club, similar to what the Washington football team did?

Indians have gone to great lengths to provide free time since the initial announcement of the continued name change. That way you can pick a new brand and go from there, rather than a working title.

Two brand changes add more headaches to the process, Campisi said.

“You don’t need to market that kind of weird, vague team name, like the Cleveland Baseball Team or the Cleveland Baseball Club,” Campisi said.

Duke and Kim Higgins were sleeping soundly in the early hours of May 19 when the phone rang.

“Whenever it rings this late at night, you always suspect something is wrong,” Duke recalls.

On the other side was their son, PJ

“Are you awake?” PJ asked.

“I am now,” Duke replied. “What do you need?”

PJ needed nothing more than to tell his parents that after six years in the minor leagues, working painfully at sites ranging from Eugene, Oregon to Myrtle Beach, SC to Knoxville, Tenn. at something called an alternative training site, he was finally promoted to the big leagues.

Biggest winner of the Titans’ exchange for Julio Jones? It’s AJ Brown https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/biggest-winner-of-the-titans-exchange-for-julio-jones-its-aj-brown/ https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/biggest-winner-of-the-titans-exchange-for-julio-jones-its-aj-brown/#respond Sun, 06 Jun 2021 18:16:06 +0000 https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/biggest-winner-of-the-titans-exchange-for-julio-jones-its-aj-brown/

NASHVILLE, Tennessee – The Tennessee Titans were tied last season for the league’s second-strongest offense, but Sunday’s trade with the Atlanta Falcons to wide receiver Julio Jones has the potential to take them in. another plane.

Jones, who the Titans acquired for a second-round draft pick in 2022 and a fourth-round draft in 2023, is reporting a career-wide 848 receptions for 12,896 yards and 60 touchdowns for the Titans after a decade in the league.

Tennessee struck a good offensive balance with AJ Brown recording his second straight 1,000-yard season and Corey Davis coming within 16 yards of his first. It would have been the first time the Titans had two 1,000-yard receivers in the same year since Derrick Mason and Drew Bennett in 2004.

Davis switched to the New York Jets via free agency, which left a void against Brown. Titans general manager Jon Robinson has recruited former Los Angeles Rams extended player Josh Reynolds to help him. However, Jones’ presence gives the Titans a much more formidable option to prevent opposing defenses from bracketing and overtaking Brown.

“It takes some of the tension away from me and with Derrick [Henry] and Ryan [Tannehill] with Antoine [Firkser]Brown told ESPN on Sunday. “To have another dominant guy on the other side, everyone has to be honest. Now you don’t know who is going to hold whom. I can get CB1 or Julio can get CB1. But whoever gets CB2, [that cornerback] going to be in trouble. It’s gonna be fun.”

Freshman offensive coordinator Todd Downing spoke last week about finding ways to expand Brown’s game in his third season in the NFL.

“We’ll be looking for ways to single him out, ways to help him with different coverage metrics and things like that,” Downing said of Brown. “See where we can move it, expand its road tree a bit, and watch it succeed as we expand it.”

It’s not just Brown who will benefit from Jones’ arrival. The Titans faced eight defensemen in the box in 23.1% of their shots last season, more than any other team in the NFL. That’s because the defenses prepared to stop Derrick Henry who had 2,027 rushing yards.

“Derrick is going to do his thing. We all benefit from Derrick. You have to play him honestly,” Brown said.

The Falcons faced eight in the box in 12.5% of their shots last year. Jones will have plenty of opportunities to face single cover and thrive on deep playing passes against single cover from Tannehill.

Dating back to his college days at Ole Miss, Brown has carefully studied Jones’ play. He even traded jerseys with Jones after the Titans beat the Falcons 24-10 in week four of Brown’s rookie season. The third-year wide receiver is thrilled to have Jones as a teammate.

“He’s a big catcher like me, but the special thing about him is that he runs like a little guy,” Brown said. “The physical part of his game is crazy. He plays with domination. He can beat you over and beat you under. He has no flaws in his game. For me in college he was teaching me. everything and I didn’t even know it, that’s when I didn’t know him and I was looking at him.

The Titans’ depth chart now has Brown, Jones and Reynolds – all at least 6 feet tall – as the top three receivers. All three are able to play in the slot machine or outside. This gives Downing the opportunity to move the guys through the lineup to generate clashes that favor the Titans. Downing liked the versatility of the Titans’ grand reception hall before adding Jones.

“The more you can do for our offense and the more tasks you can do, the more opportunities you will have to play,” said Downing. “Our band really embodies and embraces the ‘where can you plug me in and play me’ mentality. Since you have more versatile pieces that you can use in different positions, it opens things up for everyone, and we’re excited about it. that. “

Sports pride celebrations must go beyond rainbows and promises https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/sports-pride-celebrations-must-go-beyond-rainbows-and-promises/ https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/sports-pride-celebrations-must-go-beyond-rainbows-and-promises/#respond Sun, 06 Jun 2021 11:03:20 +0000 https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/sports-pride-celebrations-must-go-beyond-rainbows-and-promises/

The NFL unveiled a “Pride” themed shield to show its “support and solidarity” with the LGBTQ community. The San Francisco Giants hosted a pride day on Saturday, becoming the first major league team to wear the pride colors on their uniforms and will soon be selling the same field hats the players wore. Pac-12 celebrated Pride Month by announcing a partnership with LGBT SportsSafe to help create “a culture of respect and inclusion”.

In American sports, like most American businesses, Pride Month seems to have turned into a checkbox. In many ways, that’s a good thing: it raises awareness and makes a positive statement.

But is there any real conviction behind the multitude of rainbow flags? Or is it a cynical attempt to take advantage of a segment of the community that is not supported by the action?

Let’s start with the Giants. I don’t find their pride celebrations suspicious. The organization has taken a leadership role, dating back to its ‘Til There’s a Cure Day’ campaign for AIDS awareness in Candlestick Park and its ‘It Gets Better’ campaign ten years ago. Profits from Saturday’s game against the Cubs will go to SF Pride. The team have a historic investment in inclusion issues and are a leader in baseball (unlike that with the Texas Rangers next week’s opponent, who stubbornly remain the only major league team never to organize. Pride event).

“It’s not like we’ve suddenly jumped on the bandwagon,” said Staci Slaughter, executive vice president of the Giants. “Our history and our work in this area speak for themselves. We represent the values of the San Francisco community, and the LGBTQ community is an integral part of that. “

But the main owner of the Giants is Charles Johnson, a billionaire conservative donor who funds many politicians who work hard to fight LGBTQ inclusion and equality. Johnson, according to a report from fivethirtyeight.com last fall, accounted for 32% of all sports property donations to Republican causes since 2015.

According to the Giants, an unspecified “portion” of the proceeds from future cap sales will go to LGBTQ charities, but the Giants will keep some of it. So somewhere there is a lag in buying a pride-themed cap to represent the team while potentially contributing to the Giants’ coffers and therefore Johnson’s portfolio of assets.

The NFL’s New Push for Inclusion? Is it like carbon offsetting for the millions its owners have paid out to Conservative candidates over the years, funds that have gone directly to those working against LGBTQ issues?

The Pac-12, in its Pride Month release, said it was the first Power Five conference to be “all-in on inclusion” and that it would work with student-athletes to “To ensure that all members of this invisible minority community feel seen, heard and supported.

But the Pac-12 is part of the NCAA. And while the NCAA Board of Governors in April warned states weighing the bills of anti-trans athletes that they could lose their ability to host events, that threat appeared to be just a bark and no bite.

Since the NCAA threat, the organization has hosted softball playoffs in Florida, Arkansas, Alabama and Tennessee. The World Series of softball is held in Oklahoma. This weekend, the NCAA is hosting regional baseball tournaments in Texas, Arkansas and Florida. These are all states that have signed or are working on bills against transgender athletes.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Tuesday signed a bill against transgender athletes – his performative way of kicking off pride month – and laughed at the NCAA warning. (Johnson, the owner of the Giants, donated to DeSantis when he ran for the US Senate in 2015 before retiring from the race, according to FEC documents.)

Chris Mosier, a transgender athlete and activist, tweeted, “Your actions speak louder than your words @NCAA: you are not protecting the rights of trans and non-binary athletes to participate. “

Why Chad Johnson changed his name, explained: “Ochocinco is still in me” https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/why-chad-johnson-changed-his-name-explained-ochocinco-is-still-in-me/ https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/why-chad-johnson-changed-his-name-explained-ochocinco-is-still-in-me/#respond Sun, 06 Jun 2021 08:00:00 +0000 https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/why-chad-johnson-changed-his-name-explained-ochocinco-is-still-in-me/

Chad Johnson’s career in the NFL has been a wild ride, and during it he did something few, if any, other NFL players have. He changed his name.

Yes, prior to the 2008 season and officially for the 2009 season, Chad Johnson became known as “Chad Ochocinco”. The move was both surprising, given that his nickname Ochocinco was just a nickname before his move, and quite surprising considering the antics Johnson used to have fun with and to stir the pot during his days in the NFL.

But then, in 2012, after a few years as Ochocinco, Johnson changed his last name again and is known again as “Chad Johnson”. This time, however, he kept Ochocinco as his middle name.

Ahead of Chad Johnson’s fight against Brian Maxwell, many will be wondering what led Johnson to change his name twice. Sporting News has you covered with the answers Johnson has given on the subject over the past 15 years.

Why did Chad Johnson change his name to Chad Ochocinco?

Chad Johnson became Chad Ochocinco because of his # 85 jersey. During Hispanic Heritage Month in 2006, he announced that he wanted to change his birth name to Ochocinco to honor this number (although it should be noted that “ochenta y cinco” is Spanish for 85; “ocho” is eight and “cinco” is five).

This happened after he wore a Velcro nameplate on his jersey that read “Ochocinco” before a game, only for Carson Palmer to tear it off and be fined $ 5,000 by the NFL.

While few took Johnson seriously, he eventually changed his name to Ochocinco in 2008. However, he didn’t explain much about why he made the decision at the time.

“It’s something that I don’t think anyone has done before,” Johnson said, according to ESPN. “Have I ever had a reason why I do what I do?

Fair enough!

Although Ochocinco became Johnson’s official name in 2008, he waited until 2009 to put it on the back of his jersey. If he hadn’t, he should have bought the remaining Johnson jerseys stock from Reebok’s stock, much like NFL players wanting to change their numbers ahead of the 2021 NFL season.

What did Chad Ochocinco change his name to Chad Johnson?

Just a few years after officially changing his last name to Ochocinco, Chad decided to change his last name to Johnson.

What was the reasoning for this? Simple. It had everything to do with Johnson’s marriage to reality TV star Evelyn Lozada.

“The couple preferred Evelyn’s last name to be a real name and not the funny ‘Ochocinco’ character we love,” a statement said on the change, according to NFL.com.

And Johnson confirmed that was the motive in an interview with ESPN in 2012.

“I’m refocused and locked in. It’s time to go back to my old self,” Johnson said. “I’m doing it just for the wedding. It has nothing to do with football. Ochocinco is still in me. It’s just my middle name.”

As a result, Johnson’s original name returned to his jersey.

However, her marriage to Lozada did not last. Johnson was arrested for domestic battery charges just over a month after their marriage. Lozada filed for divorce which was granted three months after their wedding day.

Still, Johnson decided to keep his last name from that point on. So, almost 10 years later, Chad Johnson remains.
