Juan Soto dons Trea Turner jersey for Dodgers-Cardinals NL Wild Card Game

The Nationals season may be over, but Juan Soto got a taste of playoff baseball again in October.

Soto attended Wednesday night’s NL Wild Card Game, supporting former teammates Max Scherzer and Trea Turner in their quest to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to the St. Louis Cardinals. Soto wore Turner’s national jersey and took a photo with Scherzer’s wife, Erica. Washington batting coach Kevin Long, wearing his own Scherzer jersey, was also in attendance.

Scherzer and Turner had played alongside Soto since 2018 before the Nationals sent the two superstars to Los Angeles in a successful deal at the trade deadline. The Dodgers went on to set the best baseball record in the final two months of the season with Scherzer (7-0, 1.98 ERA) and Turner (.338 / .385 / .565) in the lead.

Washington has since started a youth movement, looking to the future with Soto as the central element. The 22-year-old outfielder made a tear all the way down the home stretch, making a legitimate case for the National League MVP despite the Nationals being 65-97 late.

Even though they are no longer teammates, Soto has decided to start his offseason by showing his support for a pair of national legends.
