Marvel’s Defenders of the Diamond series announced for Minor League Baseball

The South Bend Cubs, in conjunction with Minor League Baseball, today announced a three-year partnership with Marvel Entertainment, one of the world’s foremost storytelling brands, for a series of exciting events that will take place in stadiums at all levels of MiLB from 2022.

Today’s announcement was made during the “Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes” exhibit at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, which celebrates Marvel history with over 300 artifacts, including comic pages. original drawings, sculptures, costumes and interactive exhibits.

South Bend Cubs mascot Stu D. Baker was in attendance along with a number of other Marvel mascots and characters.

“MiLB’s new partnership with Marvel Entertainment brings together two historic brands that create memories that are passed down from generation to generation,” said Kurt Hunzeker, vice president of business operations for Minor League Baseball. “The possibilities of this partnership are endless and we look forward to some incredibly creative content, products and promotions. “

The new partnership will feature 96 MiLB teams participating in a series of events called “Marvel’s Diamond Defenders” during the 2022 to 2024 baseball seasons. The deal was facilitated by AthLife, Inc, the sports representative of longtime Marvel.

During each of the three years of the partnership, the 96 participating MiLB teams will host at least one Marvel Super Hero ™ themed game as part of the ‘Marvel’s Defenders of the Diamond’ campaign, where the teams will wear a special edition of the Marvel Super Hero brand. jerseys on the field during the match along with other Marvel-themed activities and promotions happening throughout the match. As part of the wide array of custom content it will be creating for the new initiative, Marvel will be creating a “Marvel’s Diamond Defenders” comic book for MiLB fans that will be distributed to participating MiLB stadiums throughout the partnership. Co-branded merchandise and other surprises will be unveiled in 2022.
