Falcons wide receiver Calvin Riley was suspended for at least the 2022 season after betting on games last season, according to ESPN Michael Rothstein.
the NFL said Ridley “was betting matches over a five-day period in November 2021 while on the non-football injury list while dealing with mental health issues”. Ridley walked away from football on Halloween, saying he needed to get his personal issues in order.
In a tweet on Monday after the suspension was announced, Ridley said he bet $1,500 in total and “I don’t have a gambling problem.” The NFL determined that Ridley “placed multi-legged parlay bets involving three, five and eight games that included the Falcons up for grabs,” a source told ESPN. adam schefter.
CBS Sports’ jonathan jones“Ridley got caught because he placed a legal mobile bet in Florida with Hard Rock. They notified engineering sportswho oversees betting integrity for the NFL.” Professional Football Discussion“Calvin Ridley’s situation shows that while the NFL is worried about the issues raised by going to bed with sports books, they aren’t worried enough.”
IF Albert Breer“I see people portraying Calvin Ridley as the victim here…and I mean, come on, we all understand why a sports league can’t allow their players to bet on their games, right? And why does she have to run into a player if that happens? I swear, it’s not that complicated.” NFL Net Mike Garafolo“The NFL has made it clear that it will be able to work with its playing partners to gather information about potential violations by players and team employees. That’s how Calvin Ridley was nabbed. “
Construction of the NFL Panthers‘ a state-of-the-art practice center in Rock Hill, South Carolina, “has been paused,” Sports and entertainment confirmed at Charlotte Observer.
The first phase of construction was expected to be completed in 2023, but the city of Rock Hill “has not made its initial payment, which was due in March 2021,” according to a source familiar with the matter. The company “pursued construction but never received payment from the city.”
The city’s expected investment was to “fund the project’s infrastructure, which includes roads, water and power lines, and sewers,” the source said. TS&E “will continue to pay all site workers and extend their pay by one week from the time the project is suspended.”
As to whether the entire Rock Hill project is in jeopardy, the town’s mayor John Getty says it’s a team decision. “It’s really a question for them,” he said. “That’s not my impression of our conversation.”

Tonight’s opinion piece comes from Eric FrankCEO of Miamigambling compliance consulting firm Chances of compliance. He asks, “Why hasn’t there been more esports betting in the US, especially when it’s becoming so prevalent elsewhere?”
Frank: “The answer seems to lie in a lack of understanding. One of the talking points across the various esports-related industries seems to be how little the industry knows about esports, from game regulators to ‘State to esports betting and casino operators. Simply put, stakeholders need to better understand the types of bets esports fans want to engage in, and the opportunity could be unlocked.’
