Northwestern State Announces Full Capacity Shifts For Outdoor Sports | Sports

NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State Sports Department announced Monday that it will upgrade to full capacity at its outdoor sports facilities in accordance with the recent easing of COVID-19 restrictions by Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards.

The first full-capacity events since March 2020 will take place on Friday as the Northwestern State Softball team plays host to Southeast Louisiana in a 4-hour doubles match at the Lady Demon Diamond and the Demon baseball team opens a four-game series against McNeese at 6:30 p.m.

These games will be the first home sporting events for the Northwestern state since Edwards updated COVID-19 protocols for Louisiana last week. Fans are always encouraged to wear masks when attending games at Northwestern State facilities.

“Fan support at NSU sporting events this spring has been good and we hope the relaxed state guidelines will encourage better participation in key home competitions that our baseball and softball teams still have on their agenda. Said Greg Burke, NSU director of athletics.

The Northwestern State Athletics box office is currently selling tickets for the remaining eight home baseball games and the last three softball games. Tickets can be obtained by calling the box office at 318-357-4268, logging on to or in person at the office, located in the NSU Athletic Fieldhouse.
