South Jersey school sports gear up for the fall season

There is just something electric about Friday night football.

As the marching bands and cheerleaders get the crowds excited, it’s easy to feel the excitement and anticipation crackling through the air on the chilly, chilly nights of the fall months.

The game lasts two and a half hours. The season lasts more than three months, a trek which produces a lot of cheers and a few tears too.

Even the hot dogs from the concession stand taste delicious.

High school football is the thread that can connect a student body and a community, creating memories that can last a lifetime.

This was not exactly the case last season.

Things came to a head at times during the pandemic last season, causing many teams to shut down for weeks before restarting.

Hopefully the school sports scene will return to something more normal this fall.

The teams will be ready. And ours too.

Our squad of Josh Friedman, John Lewis, Tom Rimback and Tom mcgurk boast over a century of combined experience spanning school sports in South Jersey.

We will tell the unique stories of these talented athletes and the coaches who guide them through successes as well as tough times.

There’s a lot of anticipation for this season and it’s fitting for football to start early, starting with the first Battle at the Beach showcase in Ocean City next weekend. The three-day, 11-game event will take place at Carey Field in Ocean City, one of the best venues in South Jersey.

We’ll get you ready for all the action with plenty of pre-season content, highlighting all the top players and top teams coming into the season.

Our Mean 15 rankings will chart the progress of the top teams on a weekly basis, published online on Sunday evenings and in print on Monday.

We will bring our readers and subscribers all the action from all the big games every week, covering every corner of southern New Jersey, providing updates and videos to our social media platforms from all individual accounts. and our football brand, South Jersey Gridiron Gang.

Each week’s best performances will be highlighted in different ways with our three-star picks for each country and the Player of the Week video. Readers will have the chance to select the best performances of the week by voting in a weekly poll.

But it’s not all touchdowns in fall sports.

We will be covering other sports like field hockey and boys and girls soccer, providing Mean 15 rankings and three star caps on a weekly basis. There will also be game coverage as well as detailed player features and game trends throughout the season.

As teams pursue their dreams of chasing sectional and state championships, we’ll be there every step of the way.

At the end of the season, we will select our All-South Jersey teams for each of these sports as well as Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and Team of the Year honors.

The journey begins this week.
