The Los Angeles Rams finished the 2021 season atop the NFL world, beating the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI 23-20. While the Rams are currently considered the best team in the NFL, you would actually be losing money if you bet on them every game this season!
That’s right, the Rams are the first Super Bowl winner in more than three decades to have a losing ATS record. While they went 16-5 straight, they went 10-11 ATS. To put that into perspective, the Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins were more lucrative teams to bet on this year!

Of course, it’s the record that matters when it comes to sports, but interestingly enough, the Super Bowl winner was not a lucrative team for betting. In fact, the winners of NFL playoff games this year went 11-2 ATS. Both losses came from the Rams, in the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl LVI. They beat the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game 20-17, failing to cover the 3.5-point spread, then failed to cover the 4.5-point spread against the Bengals. Overall, the Rams went 2-2 ATS in the playoffs.
It was truly a postseason for the ages, as six of the final seven playoff games were decided by exactly three runs. The only game that didn’t was the Bills-Chiefs divisional game, which still went into overtime!
The Rams’ 10-11 ATS record ranked 17th in the league this year. The three teams with the best coverage rates were the Cowboys, Packers and, oddly enough, the Bengals.
